Brindle is a boarding and rescue kennels twenty minutes out of Beaufort West, on the Nelspoort road. We started sewing our own collars in 2019 because everything we bought kept giving up on the runs. The workshop is now two people, four machines and one long bench, and what it makes covers the feed bill for sixty-odd dogs. Nothing on this page is made anywhere else. 214 dogs rehomed since January
Vegetable-tanned hide rolled and hand-stitched so the edge sits soft against the coat instead of wearing a line into it. Solid brass buckle and a welded ring. It goes dark with wear rather than cracking, and the stitching is the part we repair for nothing.

Heavy khaki canvas webbing with a leather-bound handle, so a hard pull does not burn through your palm. The brass trigger clip is oversized on purpose — you can work it wearing gloves, at five in the morning, in the dark.

A padded chest panel spreads the load across the sternum instead of the throat, which matters while a dog is still working out what a lead is for. Four points of adjustment, so one harness follows a young dog most of the way up.

Double-layer canvas over a dense foam core, built to be hosed down on a concrete floor and dry again by the afternoon. Rope loops at the corners so it hangs on the run gate overnight. It is the bed we use ourselves, in every run on the property.

Fleece-lined ripstop cut for a deep chest, for Karoo mornings that sit near zero until the sun clears the ridge. Two belly straps and no hardware under the ribs, so a dog can lie down in it without lying on a buckle.

Old-style enamel over pressed steel, heavy enough that a boisterous feeder cannot skate it across the floor. Straight sides, so they scrub out in one pass. Sold in twos because one is never enough — food and water, side by side.
