Deckle

We print in layers, one colour at a time

Deckle is a two-person print room in Salt River. Everything here is pulled by hand on a flatbed table, one screen per colour, which is why the edges never line up perfectly and why we stopped apologising for it years ago. We print our own work in short editions and we print other people's when the idea is good. Paper is 300gsm cotton rag with the deckle edge left on. Nothing is trimmed square unless you ask.

This week on the table

Four colours, forty sheets, one very long Tuesday. The current edition goes up as it comes off the rack.

Drying, do not touch

A sheet sits on the rack for a day between colours. It is the slowest part of the job and the reason editions are small.
