A brass shop that happens to make lamps

Filament is two spinning lathes, a soldering bench and a wiring table in an old printworks on Fox Street. Every fitting starts as a flat brass disc and gets spun, seamed, wired and lacquered here — nothing is assembled out of imported kits. We hang each one on the test board against the back wall and leave it burning for an hour before it is packed. If a shade rattles or a switch feels cheap, it does not go out.
