Everything here is thrown, not cast

Kiln House is one wheel, one kiln and two people in a converted garage in Observatory. We make tableware we use ourselves and we sell what is left over. No two pieces match exactly. If you want twelve identical plates, we are the wrong studio and we will tell you so.

How the glazes happen

Every glaze here is mixed in the studio from raw materials, tested on a tile, and then thrown away about four times out of five. The oatmeal took two years. They are all food safe, dishwasher safe and will go in an oven. They will not go in a microwave if there is any iron in them, which the speckled ones have.
