A planted tank is not finished the day you fill it. The first three weeks are cloudy, the plants sulk, and somewhere around week six the water goes clear and stays clear on its own. Nobody enjoys those three weeks and there is nothing on this page that shortens them. So we ask what the alcove measures before we ask what the budget is. Half the people who walk into the shop in Glenwood are about to buy twice the filter they need and a light that will feed algae for a year. Ninety centimetres, seven hundred litres an hour and one good piece of stone beats almost anything you can spend three times that on. We are open Tuesday to Saturday, we courier to Joburg and Cape Town on Mondays, and if a plant melts in the first month bring it back and we will replace it.
A photograph of the alcove and its width in centimetres is enough. We send back a build list with a rand price against every line, and we will tell you where you can spend less.
