A fountain pen is the one thing on a desk that gets better with use and cheaper to run every year after the first. We stock pens we are willing to open, fill and hand over across the counter, and we keep the converters, nibs and cartridges that go with them on the shelf behind us instead of on a supplier’s website. If we sell it, we can service it.
Every pen we sell goes onto the bench first. We check the tines under a loupe, smooth anything that catches on the upstroke, and write half a page with it to be sure the ink starts on the first line and not the third. It takes about ten minutes a pen and it is the reason people drive in from Somerset West rather than ordering one from overseas and hoping.
112 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town. Tuesday to Friday nine to five, Saturday nine to one. Nib tuning is walk-in on Thursdays and free on any pen you bought from us.
