Nobody walks out of here with a bow straight off the rack. You go on the tape in the fitting bay and we measure the draw with a marked arrow rather than a wingspan sum, and only then do we talk about weight. Most people who come in certain they need sixty pounds shoot a good deal better at fifty-two, and the bow you can hold at full draw for ten seconds is the one that fills the freezer. A tune-up is an hour on the press. We check brace height and axle-to-axle against the maker's own numbers, time the cams, set nock height, then paper-tune and walk it back to twenty metres until the broadheads land with the field points. Bring the arrows you actually shoot — tuning a bow to somebody else's shafts wastes both our mornings.
