The yard, the arena and who rides here

Snaffle sits on eleven hectares off the R617 between Himeville and Underberg, with a sand arena that drains, a grass jumping paddock that does not, and nineteen horses and ponies that all belong to the school. Lessons run Tuesday to Sunday from seven in the morning, and the people who ride here are farm children on ponies they have almost outgrown, adults who last sat on a horse at school, and a handful who are properly out competing on the Midlands circuit by March. Nobody rides until they have tacked up themselves, which is slower on the first morning and quicker for the rest of your life. The tack room is at the top of the yard and it is open to anyone, whether you ride with us or you keep your own horse down the road in Boston.
