Steier has been on the Bloemfontein side of the N8 since 2009 and the split has never really changed: the steel is for hire and the timber is for sale. Cuplock standards, ledgers, braces, props, base jacks and mesh go out on a monthly rate against a signed list, and come back to be counted, straightened and sent for re-galvanising when they need it. Shutter ply, H20 beams and the fittings are sold outright, because a sheet that has been through eight pours belongs on your site and not back on our racks. Every standard in this yard is load-tested once a year by an inspector who does not work for us, and the certificate goes into a file with your name on it, so when the safety officer asks for it there is something to hand him. We start loading at six. An order placed before four in the afternoon is on site inside Bloemfontein the next morning; Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu and Welkom go out twice a week. Prices below are ex yard and exclude VAT — send the drawing or even a photograph of the slab and we will work out what you actually need, which is nearly always less than what you were about to order.
