Trestle

Everything that goes on a long table

Riebeek-Kasteel — buy the small things, hire the heavy ones

See what we stock

Sisanda, Marike, and a shed full of crates

We are Sisanda Nkosi and Marike du Toit, and between us we pack every crate that leaves here. The workshop is an old fruit shed on Hoofstraat in Riebeek-Kasteel, with trestles down the middle so we can lay a full three-metre run out and look at it properly before it goes anywhere near a bakkie. We sell the small things outright — linen, candles, napkins, vases — and we hire out the heavy ones, the iron stands and the glassware, because nobody needs to own two hundred coupes. We are not planners. We do not do flowers and we will not book your band, and we say so in the first minute on the phone. What we do is arrive the morning before, set the tables, and come back on the Sunday for the crates.

From the Sunday emails

They got here at half past six on the Friday and had ninety covers laid by nine, then left us alone for the rest of the day. That second part is the bit I actually wanted to thank them for. — Lerato, Bot River, March We hired the iron stands and bought the runners. Two years on, those runners are still the ones on our own table at home, which is more than I can say for anything else from that weekend. — Pieter en Anke, Tulbagh, November
