Klipkop Cottage

A stone cottage on a working wheat farm

Klipkop sits on the Rietkuil werf outside Napier — self check-in, power that stays on, and the dam a twenty-minute walk from the stoep.

Check dates

Self check-in

The key is in the box on the stoep wall and the code comes with your confirmation. Arrive at ten at night if that suits you — nobody needs to meet you at the gate.

Power that stays on

Panels on the shed roof, a 10kWh battery and a generator behind it. The lights in this cottage have not gone off during load-shedding since we put it in.

Uncapped fibre

Fibre to the farmhouse and a mesh point in the lounge. Guests run video calls from the kitchen table all week without dropping one.

A working farm

Wheat, canola and about nine hundred merinos. Lambing is in May and harvest is in November, and you are welcome to walk out with Pieter on either.

Walks from the door

Three routes are marked off the stoep: an hour up the koppie, half a morning to the dam, and the full fence line if you leave early.

Dogs welcome

Two dogs, no extra charge, as long as they leave the sheep alone. There is a shaded run beside the cottage and a tap low enough to fill a bowl.

From the visitors' book

We booked two nights and changed it to five on the second morning. It is the stoep that does it — you sit down at four and there goes your evening.

I worked the whole week from the kitchen table and did not drop a single call, which is more than I manage at home in Rondebosch.
Sipho Mahlangu · Cape Town, May 2026
Our old staffie found the patch of sun by the door on the first afternoon and barely moved after that. First place we have taken him where nobody minded.

Pieter put the children on the harvester for half an hour. They have told that story to everyone they know since November.
