Your whole house, on one truck, in one day
Tailboard is a removals and storage firm out of Epping, Cape Town. Household and office moves anywhere in South Africa, and a dry warehouse on the same yard for when the dates do not line up.

All four of these are in the price we send you. None of them is an extra.
Our own fleet
Six trucks, from a 4-ton for a flat to a 14-ton for a full house. Nothing is sub-contracted, so the crew that packs your things is the crew that unloads them.
All nine provinces
Cape Town to Gauteng is a two-day run. Gqeberha and Bloemfontein go overnight. We put about forty long-distance loads on the road a month.
Cover to R750 000
Goods in transit cover of R750 000 a load is included. Anything worth more than that is listed by name and agreed in writing before we pack.
A time, not a window
The crew arrives at the hour printed on your quote. If we are more than an hour late, the packing labour comes off the invoice.

Fill this in and we send back one price, not a range. If the load turns out bigger than you described, we tell you before we pack — not after.
Who we are, and what we will not put on a truck
Tailboard has worked out of the same yard in Epping since 2009. Eleven staff, six trucks, and a warehouse holding 240 wooden storage vaults. Ivan and Wilhelmina Prinsloo own it, and between them they have loaded more kitchens than either can count.
A fixed quote covers the crew, the truck, the fuel, the tolls, the blankets, the tape and the boxes we pack into. It covers goods in transit cover to R750 000 and carrying up to a third floor. It does not cover a hoist, a crane, or a second trip because the new place was not ready — those are priced separately and agreed before the day, so nothing lands on an invoice you have not already seen.
We move pianos, gun safes, snooker tables, industrial fridges and, once, a nine-hundred-kilogram lathe. We do not move livestock, firearms, cash, jewellery, plants across a provincial border, or anything that has to stay below eight degrees. Ask anyway — if we cannot do it, we know the person who can.
A three-bedroom in Pinelands, packed and loaded
Filmed start to finish on a Thursday in March and cut to seven minutes. Four crew, a 10-ton, and the family cat shut in the bathroom until the last box was on.
The last few moves
They quoted R18 400 from Rondebosch to Somerset West and the invoice came to R18 400. After two other firms whose price grew on the day, that was the whole thing for me.
We shut the Woodstock office at three on Friday and were trading in Century City by eight on Monday. Every desk was labelled, so nobody spent the morning hunting for their own screen.
My mother's furniture sat in their warehouse for five months while we finished the estate. Dry, dusted, and they let me in twice to fetch papers without charging me for it.
Cape Town to Polokwane, 1 900 kilometres, and one wine glass broke. They took it off the bill before I had even worked out how to mention it.
